Jobless figure expected to rise on Wednesday
As the UK economy continues to head south there is speculation we could see a significant increase in the jobless total which is to be announced on Wednesday. The last figures showed unemployment hitting a rate of 1.82 million in the UK and the forthcoming figures are expected to see the number nudged towards 2 million. So where will it all end?
The employment situation in UK continues to deteriorate at a significant rate even though government ministers are suggesting there are employment positions around. While the 2 million mark, which is expected to be hit over the next three months, is a serious move compared to historic figures we could see around 3 million before the economy starts to recover. This will put pressure on both household incomes, mortgages as well as the state budget which is already stretched to breaking point.
The more people unemployed the greater the cost to the economy and the larger the payouts from the social services department of the government. Many people are now commenting upon the massive increase in the UK population claiming invalidity benefit which has for so many years kept them out of the unemployment figures. A recent back to work programme highlighted the number of people claiming benefits for the whole of their working lives at a massive of cost to each and every taxpayer in the UK.

Interest rates set to remain on hold
While the Bank of England often has a unique style of conveying its thoughts to the market, director Paul Tucker seems to be a little more forceful.
