Should Gordon Brown be spending more time at home?

As the UK economy continues to move from one disaster to another Gordon Brown is facing something of a backlash as taxpayers see him more and more on the continent fighting the fight for other countries and economies while the UK continue to suffer. While ultimately a recovery in the US and Europe would obviously assist the UK economy there are concerns that is spending more time increasing his international profile, in a similar fashion to Tony Blair, at the expense of his "bread and butter" UK citizens.

However, even his increased international profile has taken something of a battering over the last few weeks with the German government particularly critical of his economic policies and economic prowess at home and in Europe. It will be interesting to see if Gordon Brown spends more time at home in the New Year because many believe that 2009 will be a very testing time for the UK economy and literally all hands to the pump will be required.

Even though Alistair Darling is officially the Chancellor of the Exchequer voters are very much looking towards Gordon Brown for guidance and assistance and Mr. Darling has been overlooked on many occasions.
