Despite rising unemployment more migrant workers are welcomed into the UK

It would appear that Gordon Brown's claim of British jobs for British people is something of a farce with news that 5000 more migrants are to be given work visas this year and the number will increase next year. Despite the lack of jobs in the UK it seems incredible that the UK government is still able to invite more and more migrant workers into the UK many of whom will end up on social service benefits. This in itself will also place more pressure on the UK government budget and see UK taxpayers expected to fund overseas "visitors".

Despite a number of promises by the UK government over the last few weeks the number of migrant workers has continued to rise even though the UK is suffering from one of the more severe economic downturns of recent times. What chance these new visitors have of finding employment is open to debate and even if they do find jobs, in the words of Gordon Brown, this is not British jobs for British people.

Many ridiculed Gordon Brown's promise of British jobs for British people when it was made as to all intents and purposes it is illegal under EU regulations.
