The Obama and Brown show hits town
It has been revealed that Gordon Brown could well be the first European prime minister to visit Barack Obama at his new home, the White House. In chilling tones of Tony Blair's last few months in office it appears that Gordon Brown is on a whistle stop tour of the world which will see his reputation enhanced but at what cost?
Despite attempts to put forward the US/UK special relationship as the way ahead for the world and the UK economy, it is becoming increasingly obvious that the US government has no intention of looking overseas for assistance at the moment. Gordon Brown seems to believe that Barack Obama has the UK economy near the top of his agenda even though he has more than enough to worry about in his homeland.
There are concerns that Gordon Brown is yet again on another international mission to increase his profile and his reputation overseas, while the UK economy continues to fall. The UK government has been very active in the blame game over the last few days with a number of Treasury ministers and Labour MPs attacking the banking sector for "hideous bonuses" paid over the last few years.
