Financial worries come out in the open
Brits are increasingly opening up about their financial worries, with more than one in four happy to discuss money worries with friends and family. That's the findings of a new poll by IVA.co.uk which found that over a quarter (27 per cent) admitted to talking with friends and relatives about their financial problems. The company surveyed 1,000 Britons aged 16-64 from April 18th to 20th 2008 and found Londoners to be the most open, with almost a third (32 per cent) revealing that they had discussed financial problems with friends and relatives. This compares with 29 per cent in the north and 18 per cent in the Midlands.Additionally, women were found to be more candid about their financial worries with 28 per cent discussing their problems, compared with 25 per cent of men.Andy Davie, spokesperson for IVA.co.uk said: "The stigma associated with debt is changing. As more and more Britons struggle with their finances, it's becoming acceptable to say I have a problem with debt. Many people are investigating the possible solutions open to them but rely heavily on the advice that they receive. "I would urge anyone looking for reliable information to talk to at least three different organisations."
