Does Your Credit Card Offer Protection On Purchases
With news that more and more UK companies are hitting financial trouble the subject of credit card purchase protection has moved very much to the fore. Many credit card holders will not be aware that some cards offer purchase protection for loss, theft or accidental damage on new purchases - lasting up to 90 days after the transaction. This offers an interesting option for those who purchase over the internet or over the phone, ensuring that in the worst case scenario - if the retailer were to go under - they would be able to reclaim their funds.
However, it is vital that you check the terms of your credit card prior to purchase as some cards will give the service free of charge, while others will offer it as a separate service. The traditional free service attached to a number of credit cards will offer cover of around £1,500, more than ample for many purchases but possibly too low for some larger items.
If you need to extend the service already available with your card or your card provider does not offer such a service, this may be something you should consider. Companies such as wedding list group Wrapit have been in the news of late with many customers at risk of losing their goods and money.
