John Terry 'Could have Fallen Victim to Card Scam'
England football captain John Terry could have been caught up in a card fraud case, the Sun reports.Police are understood to be currently investigating whether or not the player has fallen victim to businessman Faisal Madani - who was jailed earlier this year on other fraud-related charges. Mr Madani had been found guilty by Chester Crown Court of selling football merchandise with fake signatures of stars including Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen. The businessman was a guest at Mr Terry's wedding in June 2007, and is thought to have bought the Chelsea player a holiday worth "tens of thousands of pounds", paid by credit card, for the occasion. He also appeared in OK magazine's photos of the wedding. It has now emerged, however, that Mr Madani was arrested at his trial "on suspicion of credit card fraud", an allegation confirmed by the City of London Police by the newspaper. There is no suggestion from police that Mr Terry knew anything about the card scam, or any of Mr Madani's other fraudulent activities, at any stage prior to the businessman's arrest. An anonymous source "close" to the player, also speaking to the Sun, said: "John does know this character Faisal but theyre not best mates. Theres definitely something going on but its been passed on to Johns lawyers."
