MPs expenses debacle continues
As the Daily Telegraph promised, further revelations about MPs expenses have been released into the public domain showering yet more shame and disgust on UK political scene. While, as we keep being told, "all expenses are within the rules" there is greater taxpayer fury across the UK than ever before. It seems as though a new wave of political change is hitting the UK after years of secrecy and expense claims which were never published outside of the House of Commons.
The latest wave of expense claims allegedly include ladies clothing, personal items, kick-Kats, stamp duty on homes to name but a few. The list so far has brought in an array of Cabinet ministers and the Prime Minister with the Conservative party and the Liberal Democrat party next in line. It is noticeable that the likes of David Cameron have refrained from direct criticism of individual MPs in the knowledge that further revelations are sure to hit the Conservative party.
There is certainly a sea change in the UK political arena and after years of "milking expenses" it seems as though all MPs are very much under the spotlight and under immense pressure. However, there is a feeling that the ongoing expenses debacle is diverting attention and resources from the economy and the problems still felt throughout the UK.
