Political parties battle it out for moral high ground

David Cameron has stolen a march on Gordon Brown in the pursuit of parliamentary form in the wake of the MPs expenses scandal. However his blueprint for future has been dismissed by many in political circles as being too weak as the battle for the higher moral ground goes on. While the likes of Cameron and Brown battle it out to catch the attention of UK voters the constant drip feed of MPs expense scandals continues. There are suggestions within political circles that up to 50% of current MPs could lose their seats between now and next general election.

Each day brings yet more anger from UK public with many dismayed that MPs are allowed to live a life of luxury while the traditional electorate struggles to make ends meet. The Daily Mail also covered an article on MPs pensions which many people believe will be the next port of call and potential financial scandal. While there has been no wrongdoing with regards to MPs pensions, the terms which they voted upon themselves are generous to say the least and saw UK taxpayer contributions increase by £2 million last year alone.

Life as a UK MP may be short lived some but there do appear to be a number of perks!
