Simple ways to save money : Gas and Electric
Over the last few years there have been significant changes in the UK utilities market with gas and electric in particular experiencing an increase in competition between suppliers. Rather bizarrely, due to the introduction of new infrastructure, it can often be cheaper to obtain gas from a traditional electric supplier and electric from a traditional gas supplier, but this is not always the best option.
In years gone by, due in the main to heavy doorstep selling pressure, many people totally disregarded the opportunity to transfer gas and electricity providers because of potential problems. However, such is the competition in the market at the moment that prices can vary somewhat and ultimately if you do decide to change supplier they will in effect do everything for you. Online systems are now overloaded with consumer demand as the recession hits hard and more and more people look to control their outgoing expenses.
If you're one of the many in the UK who have totally neglected their utility bills over the last few years it may be time to look again and see if the current plan you are signed up to is the best in your area and the best for your situation. There are significant savings to be made and many of these are "pain-free" with your new supplier taking a more proactive role.
