Are electric cars a reality or a dream?
As the price of oil continues to fluctuate, as does the price of petrol on the forecourt, more and more people are looking towards the electric car market which has grown significantly over the last couple of years. Even though many people still believe that electric cars are many years away from parity with traditional fuel cars, in relation to speeds and distances, this is very much not the case.
The recent introduction of the Tesla Roadster sports car has taken the electric car sector to a new level and attracted the attention of more and more people around the world. As the company designs and builds all of its cars in the UK, via a joint venture with Lotus, the UK market is of great interest to Tesla, much to the benefit of UK motorists. The more car companies such as Tesla who look to introduce mass-market vehicles around the world the more acceptable electric cars will become in the future.
Electric cars are certainly a reality today offering a significant reduction in emissions as well as reduced maintenance levels due to the fact there are fewer moving parts, compared to a traditional vehicle. After a number of false dawns many people believe that the UK and worldwide electric car market is here to stay and set to grow substantially in the years to come.
