Beware the online fraudsters
As the Internet becomes a part of everyday life for many people in the UK we are seeing growing interest in areas such as online auctions which attract billions of pounds worth of business around the world each and every year. EBay is obviously the dominant factor in this particular market and while there are many safety nets built into the system we are seeing more instances of alleged fraud and alleged financial irregularities.
The problem seems to be that many people believe what they see on the Internet without actually investigating the seller further and seeing what they actually have to offer. The Internet is no different from the everyday hustle and bustle of normal life and ultimately if something looks too good to be true then there is a good chance it is too good to be true. Those who hand their credit card details to purchase items on the Internet, especially where there is no history of the seller having sold items before, are literally taking a big chance.
More people are waking up to the fact that once their credit card details have been passed over, their accounts have been plundered and they have been signed up to various offers and various memberships. Be careful!
