Tesco announces new buying one get one free policy

Tesco has today announced a new so-called "Bogof" policy (short for buy one get one free) which will see customers issued with vouchers so that they may claim their free items at a later date. It is common knowledge that many shoppers in the UK take advantage of these buy one get one free offers but ultimately the perishable goods acquired can often be wasted.

The new scheme announced by Tesco will not only cut back on food wastage but will also ensure that shoppers across the UK get the full benefit of these particularly attractive schemes as and when they need the items in question. This is just one more development by Tesco which has also announced the ultimate plan to become a zero carbon business by 2050. Whether this is at all possible remains to be seen but Tesco is making the right noises at the right time, something which will attract the attention of the government, regulators and consumers alike.

It will be interesting to see how the likes of Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons react to the flurry of new initiatives from Tesco which had until a few weeks ago fallen behind competitors in the area of sales growth.
