Consider your options when switching suppliers
Consumers should optimise their position in terms of energy, insurance or personal finance providers by checking the entire marketplace.Consumers need a better understanding of "how they can find a better deal be it on price, or be it on the service or be it on something else that actually better compliments their lifestyle", said Tim Wolfenden, head of uSwitch home services."Switching is something people do with gas and electricity, but [you can do it with] a lot of services in the UK," he explained. He noted that there is "still a long way to go" when it comes to consumers assessing and comparing their different options not just for bills, but for a wide variety of financial products.uSwitch claims that nearly half of UK consumers have never taken advantage of switching their gas and electricity supplier, believing it to be "a hassle".Meanwhile, the consumer group Energywatch recently reported that around one in six Britons struggles to find the money to heat their own homes properly.
