Fuel Protestors Reach Manchester
As the call for Gordon Brown to cancel the forthcoming rise in fuel duty grows in strength, plans for a new fuel protest in Manchester have been announced. A convoy of lorries, car and bikes will leave the Birch services on the M62 at 8am this morning at the start of a move which will bring Manchester City centre to a standstill. Despite last minutes calls from Police for the action to be cancelled or the route revised, it appears that the massive convoy is headed for Manchester.
This is a very interesting tactic by the fuel protestors and one which is sure to bring home the seriousness of the situation to those in and around the Manchester region. So far the major protests have been centred on London and the political capital of the country but the tactic of the organisers now seems to be changing.
Yet again Gordon Brown is finding himself under extreme pressure to make yet another u-turn, however the longer he takes to decide to delay the planned rise the more wrath he risks from UK voters. It seems that each and every way the PM turns there is more pressure and fury within the UK population.
