Consumers Unprepared For Rising Energy Costs

The hints have been made, the proof is now starting to come through, so why are so many consumers ignoring the fact that their energy bills are expected to literally hit the roof over the next few months?

There are real concerns in government that many people in the UK are totally unprepared for the forthcoming rise in energy bills, which are expected to move to the next level by the end of 2008. The likes of British Gas has already entered the fray suggesting that price rises are not too far away, with many other industry leaders sure to follow suit. While the government has been making comments about trying to help those in trouble, the fact is that the public purse is empty, there are no substantial funds left to assist those who will surely move into so called 'fuel poverty'.

The problem for many has been the fact that this is a creeping problem, one which has been ongoing for the last 2 years. A mixture of unseasonal weather, rising oil prices and a tax regime in the UK which is hitting business harder and harder has led to the situation we are in today.
