UK Is Officially Second Worst In Europe For Quality Of Life
A report by Uswitch.com into the standard and cost of living across Europe has brought home some startling facts about life in the UK. The UK came out as second worst in Europe for the quality of life afforded by those who live here.
Even though the UK has by far the highest income per household across Europe it was found that on average we pay 6% more for petrol, 49% more for gas, 5% more for electricity and have only 28 holidays a year against the likes of France which has 40 days a year. But it gets worse, with the UK population working longer hours, retiring later, dying earlier and receives less than the average sunshine in a year.
Soaring prices has seen many of the UK population pushed into serous financial difficulties with more and more people unable to afford the lifestyle which they had just last year. Rising unemployment, falling wage inflation and one of the highest tax regimes in Europe has seen many in the UK pushed to the very limit.
While the Uswitch.com report may not be exactly encouraging for the UK population, it does highlight how high the cost of living is compared to our European neighbours.
