Parents Of Internet Pirates To Be Warned
In a move which has been announced in conjunction with the British Music industry and a group of leading Internet Service Providers (ISPs) the parents of children caught downloading copyrighted material on the internet will receive official confirmation of the situation. It is hoped that by warning the parents of those involved in such actions as illegal file sharing the situation can be brought under control. However further sanctions have yet to be agreed which has disappointed a number of market observers.
The move has been on the cards for some time after the government threatened to implement far reaching laws to combat the threat. On the surface there seems to be a willingness to reach an agreement but behind the scenes the situation is far less agreeable.
Carphone Warehouse is one company which is said to have refused to cut-off the connection of those continuously downloading material without permission, something which the British Music industry sees as a main part of any future arrangement. Sanctions such as fining the parents, slowing down internet connections and placing names on a blacklist have been mentioned but it seems as though it will be very difficult to find a consensus of opinion.
