How Much Is Your 4x4 Worth Today?
Due to a mixture of rising fuel costs, falling second hand car prices and the forthcoming change in the government's road tax regime, many car dealers are refusing to take even the newest 4x4 vehicles as part exchange for another vehicle. It seems that while demand for second hand cars in general has fallen, the demand for 4x4 off road petrol vehicles has fallen off the graph!
These so called 'gas guzzlers' are literally worth more for the steel in their bodywork than in the second hand market, with many dealers suggesting this to 4x4 owners looking to get rid. When you consider the above factors for the change in trends at the forecourts it seems as though the government's plans to rid the UK of 'gas guzzlers' have been a little too severe. Over the last few months we have moved from a fairly active second hand market for 4x4 vehicles to one which has seen demand disappear and supply increase dramatically.
Those feeling brave and assuming that the government will be forced to rein in their excessive taxation plans for road tax may find a number of great bargains out there. However, this really is an area for the brave as the authorities seem to have a long term plan to literally crush the 4x4 sector in the UK.
