Is this really the time to be testing out green cars on the UK roads?

The economy is on its knees, consumers cannot even afford to put on their heating and the government is still pushing ahead with crazy and expensive schemes to test green cars in the UK. The average UK citizen is struggling to run their car at the moment never mind being able to take on the added expense of a green car - no matter what the long term savings.

Quite why the authorities need to continue with the vast number of useless harebrained schemes is a complete mystery as consumers demand more help with their everyday living costs. They can find extra money to bail out the banks, they can find extra money to lend to Iceland but they cannot fight the fight for the UK consumer as far as rising energy costs go.

As the authorities attempt to pull every rabbit out of the hat to save their own skins they seem to be forgetting the poor voters. It is ok looking to structure a recovery in 2010 just prior to the next election but how many people in the UK need to fall before then? Where is their bailout?
