Have you checked your finances as we move into 2009?
As we move into a new year many people across the UK will be taking time out to summarise their financial position, what they need to do and what is within their grasp. As the UK economy continues to move downwards and the taxpayer is asked to fund more and more rescue packages across the economy there is a feeling of despair in many households today. So what can you do about a difficult situation?
Firstly it is vital that you crystallise and summarise your total financial situation including loans, savings and your regular income streams. If you are living above your means then you need to readjust your budget and bring your expenditure more in line with your income. For those lucky enough to spend less than they actually bringing on a regular basis there is the chance to pay off any debts or, for the lucky few, the opportunity to increase their savings.
Those who bury their head in the sand and do not keep track of their financial situation are the ones who will receive least help from the financial sector. While many banks are not in a position, or not willing, to offer excessive assistance, they will be more helpful if you approach them with a solution to your financial situation. However, as always financial advice should be taken at the earliest opportunity to ensure you find a solution to solve your specific problems.
