If you don't ask for a discount you won't get it!

As the recession continues to hit the UK population, more and more people seem to be resigned to losing out on certain areas of entertainment and retail because they appear too expensive. However, such is the situation in the UK retail market that many companies, both online and off-line, will offer you a discount if you ask, and other ways to save money. The art of bartering seems to be well recognised overseas but within the UK too many people seem to be scared to ask.

So whether you are looking for that elusive holiday abroad, clothing for a special occasion or a replacement car for your clapped-out banger you need to ask for a discount and try to negotiate a better price. Many companies at the moment are literally just ticking over with business levels under severe pressure. If you were in business would you rather complete a sale at a lower profit margin or else stick at the higher level and lose out?

While not every company and every shop will be receptive to your bartering attempts it is definitely worth a try and can result in significant savings in the longer term. Ask and you shall receive!
