Insuring your home office
As more and more people in the UK are attracted by the idea of working from home, whether working for themselves or an employer, there are many potential pitfalls and considerations to take into account. Aside from the fact that you will need quiet, clear space to work from there is also the need to ensure that your business equipment and business records are not only secure but well insured.
If you're working for yourself, let's not forget that literally every day you take off is a day less income and every day lost through accidents, broken equipment or even loss of Internet connectivity can have a serious impact. Not only is their potential to lose income from customers in the short term, but if you're unable to provide a reliable and long-term service then potentially you may lose your customers forever, and their income.
There are many insurance companies in the UK who have various insurance packages aimed at the home office market and small business arena which will not only give you peace of mind regarding your office space, equipment and records but can also offer a certain degree of protection against accidents and illness. Those who work from home without considering all of the potential pitfalls, as well as the benefits, could be doing themselves a serious disservice.
