Life insurance urged for soldiers
Soldiers have been urged to take out life insurance policies even when they are young because at this time of life people are "very, very cheap to insure", it has been claimed.William McCartney of Apple Insurance Brokers explained: "When you're 18 years old you're very, very cheap to insure so for anybody considering joining the army I would advise taking out a nice life insurance policy there and then."He concluded: "My advice to any soldier would be to get your life insurance cover sorted, and the sooner they do the better."Research from the Defence Analytical Services Agency has revealed that 50 per cent of the 190 deaths that occurred among the UK regular Armed Forces during 2006 were due to accidents, while a further 49 were due to disease. These figures highlight how important life insurance can be even for those in the armed forces, who might think, wrongly, that their position in the force precludes them from having life insurance.
