Abbey Home Insurance burglary warning
Domestic burglaries increase during recessions, meaning homeowners should be on guard, according to research from Abbey Home Insurance. The firm revealed that there was a 33.8 per cent rise in the number of burglaries in England and Wales during the last recession between 1990 and 1992.In addition, statistics from the British Crime Survey recorded a similar trend. It warned that, despite the temptation to save money by opting out of buying home insurance, homeowners should make sure they are covered."When household budgets tighten and families look to cut back on financial expenditure there are the usual outgoings that people feel they can cut back on," said Abbey's insurance sales and marketing director Thierry Campet."Wrongly, many people believe home insurance is one of these. However during these times, protection is increasingly important and should not be overlooked."He also advised that homeowners look for policies which offer an "unlimited amount" of coverage.
