Long-term investment strategies : UK stock market
While global stock markets have grabbed many headlines of the last 18 months with substantial fluctuations in the leading indices in the UK and around the world there is no doubt that longer term there is still substantial demand for stocks and shares. The fact remains that the UK stock market will always reflect the prospects for the UK economy, and while nothing is ever perfect in the world of finance, the UK stock market has for some time been the best barometer of the UK economy.
As more and more people look towards the future we should see an increase in investment into UK stocks and shares and long-term savings plans. Whether we will look back in a few years time and "kick ourselves" for missing out on a potential buying opportunity remains to be seen as the stock market, and individual stocks, can be very volatile. It is also essential that those looking to invest into the UK stock market, whether on a short-term, medium-term or long-term basis, take professional advice before doing so.
It can be easy to get carried away in the moment, and even if the UK stock market were to recover you would need to be in the correct sectors and individual stocks to benefit fully.
