G20 compensation claimed by Royal Bank of Scotland
In a move which will be well received by the vast majority of UK business owners but possibly not as well received by many of the UK public, it has been revealed that Royal Bank of Scotland is pursuing a 17-year-old unemployed teenager for compensation after he damaged an RBS building. It is alleged that the 17-year-old youth was part of a gang who were filmed breaking into that Royal Bank of Scotland building in London.
In court it was revealed that the damage inflicted upon the building and the offices inside cost around £40,000 to repair which is the figure the bank is pursuing in compensation. The G20 demonstrations this year were one of the most volatile and disruptive for some time causing significant controversy and a number of clashes between demonstrators and police. Many people believe the UK government played some part in encouraging hatred towards UK banking sector and the Royal Bank of Scotland in particular which finally got out of control.
The Royal Bank of Scotland has become the standard bearer for perhaps the worst period in the history of the UK financial sector. Many people believe the bank will never be the same again with substantial chunks of the business already sold off or up for sale.
