Is cash still king?
As the UK stock market continues to consolidate at higher levels, despite the current flow of bad news, there is a debate as to whether cash is still king. Unfortunately, there is no one answer to this particular question as it is literally a "horses for courses" scenario where some ultra risk averse investors may look to retain cash in the short to medium term while those who are willing to take on extra risk may well start to drip feed their money back into the stock market.
It is vital that professional advice is taken before undergoing any form of stock market led investment as there are many different vehicles, different sectors and different considerations to take into account. While traditionally, those looking longer term have seen the greater benefit this is not always the case and the days of buying an investment and leave it for life have gone.
Stock markets around the world move quickly and unless you monitor your investment on a regular basis you may receive a number of shocks. Employing the services of a professional adviser has seen many people save significant money, on the upside and downside, though the level of service and costs charged can vary wildly.
