FTSE 100 hits six-month high
The FTSE 100 index, which is the index that tracks share price movements of the top 100 companies in the UK, has today closed in positive ground for the ninth consecutive day. The index is now at a six-month high and despite concerns as to whether or not the UK economy has actually turned it would appear that investors are more upbeat than they have been for many months.
However, it has to be said that much of the recent gains have come from positive corporate news in the UK and positive economic figures from the US. As we have covered on numerous occasions, the UK stock market is said to look forward up to 9 months so we can assume from the recent rise that the economic upturn could well be on the way. But is this a certainty?
Unfortunately, in the current economic environment there are no certainties and investor confidence could turn just as quickly into despair. However, those who watch the UK markets closely believe they are sensing a turning of the tide which should hopefully take us onwards and upwards into the future. If you're looking to invest into the UK stock market you should take professional advice prior to investing.
