Controversial private equity founder plans new start
Jon Moulton is currently in discussions regarding his departure from Alchemy partners after an apparent dispute over future strategy of the group he founded. However, even though these discussions have yet to conclude it is definite that he will be leaving the group in the short term, amid rumours that plans for a new start-up are already underway. So what will Jon Moulton concentrate on in the future?
If the rumours are correct it looks as though the founder of Alchemy partners will be setting up a private equity fund to concentrate his skills in the area of distressed business investment. This is something in which Moulton has a very strong track record, the envy of many others in the industry. There is also talk that his departure from the company could in some way trigger a number of clauses with investors which could, in a worst-case scenario, see the various investment funds wound up.
It seems that even though Jon Moulton will play no further direct role in the future of Alchemy partners he may well indirectly have triggered potentially significant changes in the company's set up and its future direction. We await developments with interest!
