Award-winning fund manager Anthony Bolton calls a bull market

Award-winning fund manager Anthony Bolton has this week confirmed his opinion that the UK stock market is on the verge of a "multi-year" bull run. He believes that UK base rates will remain at historically low levels for the foreseeable future which should force more and more investors to look elsewhere for their income and increase investment in the UK stock market.

While there are many people who have a different opinion to Mr Bolton, it is worthwhile pointing out that he called the bottom of the UK market back in September 2008 and despite various rises and falls over the last few months, he has repeated his bull strategy on more than one occasion. It will be interesting to see how the UK market reacts in the short to medium term because there is growing uncertainty about the UK economy and also about the political scene.

Maybe, if the Conservative party were to gain power we would see a totally different strategy with regards to paying down the UK debt and increasing economic activity?

Many voters now seem to have grown stale of Labour and are looking to a new government to inject new ideas and a greater urgency to the situation. Whether this is a fair review the situation remains to be seen because ultimately it may be some time before we can actually measure the success of Gordon Brown's various rescue packages.
