Intel issues upbeat statement on the PC market

Despite the fact that large ticket items such as PCs and other electronic equipment have been hit hard during the recession, today's forecast from US chip giant Intel has filled many researchers and analysts with hope for the future. It would appear that estimates for Intel are very much on the cautious side and the company has indicated it is trading better than the market is currently forecasting.

While this is a very upbeat statement and a very interesting development for the US market, it is not something which will impact significantly on the UK economy in the short to medium term. More and more it is becoming apparent that the UK economy is no longer in tandem with the US economy and the European counterparts and is in effect "trading alone". This is a major concern for the UK government, the fact that the performance of the UK economy could well see UK companies and UK consumers left behind with business development and business opportunities perhaps going elsewhere.

However, if the upbeat statement from Intel was to be repeated in the UK this would be a significant turning point because the technology market has been starved of income and investment over the last two years and many predicted it would be the last sector to recover.
