Do you really need a financial adviser?
While many people like to keep control of their own financial affairs, often neglecting the services of professional financial advisers, it does pose the question as to whether you really need a financial adviser?
The truth is that a financial adviser will be more aware of what is going on in the financial markets than the person on the street and should be able to add their expertise to assist with creating and maintaining a financial strategy and financial programme for the future. There is also the fact that if your financial advisor is not acting in your best interests or you dispute some of the investments in which they have placed your funds, there is now recourse to take action against them and complain to the official regulator.
If you think of it this way, if you had a leak in your house and you have no plumbing experience, would you attempt to do it yourself or would you call a professional tradesperson?
Some people may well be willing to give it a go themselves to save money but ultimately if you make a mistake and get it wrong it could cost you more in the long run than it would have done to initially call out a professional.
