Tony Blair to advise Lansdowne Partners
Tony Blair has inadvertently placed the UK government in a very difficult position having taken on an advisory role with hedge funds expert Lansdowne Partners that will see him deliver four exclusive speeches to the company's staff. He will receive hundreds of thousands of pounds for the talks later this year which will cover a number of topics of interest to Lansdowne staff and their clients. Those in the City will be well aware of Lansdowne Partners historically close relationship with the Conservative party with one of the company's founders donating more than £260,000 to party coffers.
It will also be interesting to see what kind of backlash Tony Blair receives in the financial press with the Labour Party adamant that the UK financial sector needs to pay for the ongoing economic turmoil in the UK. It seems very much that money talks in political and business circles as this is not the only controversial role which Tony Blair has taken on since leaving office.
Tony Blair has now amassed a multimillion pound fortune since he left the position of prime minister using many of the contacts which he built up during his time at the head of the UK government.
