Richard Branson completes integration of NTL Telewest business
Richard Branson this week confirmed that the NTL Telewest Business subsidiary will now be rebranded under the Virgin Media Business name giving the group more power in the marketplace. This is the last stage of the amalgamation of the Virgin, NTL and Telewest operations which began some years ago and has now finally been completed. So what does this mean for the Virgin Media operation?
Richard Branson has built up an operation which is prominent in the telecoms, broadband and media sectors offering a mixture of packages and individual arrangements. Significant investment over the last few years has seen the Virgin Media operation grow in profile and also able to increase the number of customers using the services. The business has continually attacked the client base of British Telecom, with great success, and the introduction of a high speed fibre-optic broadband network around the UK will put the company on a par with British Telecom.
The broadband sector in particular is becoming an integral part of the UK business arena and very prominent within the UK economy. If Richard Branson, under his Virgin Media operation, can continue to build and attract more customers, his influence within the marketplace will continue to grow.
