Ladbrokes Beat The Odds
It seems that the close finish to the English Premiership has helped Ladbrokes to announce a decent set of results with profits up 13% for the first four months of the year. The trading statement which came out this week was probably a little more upbeat than analysts had expected and many are looking at their forecasts for the full year.
While the company do not claim that their business model is recession proof, they have seen evidence of people placing more regular bets in difficult times with many hopeful of that big win. The Ladbroke business has changed dramatically over the last few years after the threat of the online casinos and betting exchanges materialised. The company has been a little more proactive than many of their competitors and they seem to be reaping the rewards.
The gambling market has always been very strong in the UK with Football and Horse Racing two of the more popular sports for gamblers. However while the traditional betting business continues to do well, Ladbrokes are seeing an increasing contribution from their own online casino operations which have been a big hit with both old and new customers. Life changes so quickly in the world of gambling!
