The great US bailout - the negative points

After all of the euphoria of the multi billion dollar bailout has calmed down and markets begin to settle there may be some uncomfortable realisations for the investment world. The financial markets of tomorrow will be very different to the ones we are seeing today, but how different?

The negative points :-

Many people are very concerned that the US bailout will give many financial institutions life after death, revive businesses which are just not viable and store more anguish up for later years. Economies move in natural cycles and while the last year has seen drastic falls the economic cycle is vital for 'shaking out' weak businesses.

There is a growing band of experts who suggest that the US bailout will actually give financial institutions a free hand to take huge gambles in the future in the knowledge that they will be bailed out if it all goes wrong. Rather than encourage a more sensible approach to business it cold have the opposite affect.

What will happen to local services now that the US government has affectively mortgaged the country to save the financial sector? Will we see cuts in services to ensure the long term viability of the US financial industry?
