McCain and Obama offer conditional support to bail out
In what is turning out to be a case of who blinks first it seems as though US presidential candidates McCain and Obama have given their luke warm support to the $700 billion US bail out package. But what exactly does this mean and does it really matter?
The brutal fact is that whatever McCain and Obama were to say in public, the deal looks like going through but the current standoff is something akin to posturing for the US public. The first one to come out in overall of the package would be accused of supporting a deal when they do not know the details and the first to reject the package would be seen as going against the will of the US people.
However, let us not forget the fact that it will be either McCain or Obama who will actually be seeing the deal through to fruition and taking on the responsibility of saving the US economy as and when they move into office and remove George Bush. Their comments are being closely tracked by the voting public and both are treading a very thin line in the eyes of US citizens.
