Is telephone share dealing really needed now?
One area of finance which has undergone a major change is that of share dealing with the option to trade both online and off-line at various rates. While many investors have moved to the online trading market some are starting to wonder if there really is a need for a telephone share dealing service?
The problem with sharedealing is that many people do not understand how the market works and that by trading online you may be limited in the number of shares you can buy and sell, prices may be moving very quickly, news items may be announced as you are trading and other similar situations. While telephone share dealing services are a little more expensive in general, where it may be difficult to buy and sell a number of shares in any one company you should be able to get feedback about what you can do from a dealer.
Online sharedealing is often just an execution only service and if the system is not able to deal straight away because of moving prices or problems with the number of shares you are looking to deal in there will likely be a delay before you find out what is going on. This can lead to substantial financial loss in some situations because in effect you are dealing blind, i.e. you do not know if the size is there for the number of shares you are looking to deal in. Telephone share trading does have a place in the modern world as does online share trading.
