Don't hide your financial troubles from your creditors
As more and more people in the UK fall further and further into debt and sit on the precipice of a financial disaster there is a need to face these issues head-on. Despite the fact that many people in the UK would rather bury their head in the sand until the problem goes away, unfortunately for many this will not happen. It is essential that if see yourself falling into financial trouble you should contact your creditors, i.e. your bank, mortgage provider and other credit providers, and let them know the situation.
It is obvious that any financial institution would be more inclined to assist you in the early stages to avoid any further heartache rather than wait until the last-minute and leave no option for your creditors. The situation with regards to arrangements such as overdrafts is even more straightforward, if you feel the need to increase your overdraft in the short term then you need to approach your bank as soon as possible otherwise unauthorised overdrafts will attract potentially double the normal rate of interest.
If you put yourself in the shoes of your creditors, why would you go out of your way to help someone who knew of issues months ago but had not approached you for assistance? At the end of the day you need to keep your creditors onside at all times to give yourself the best chance of financial survival.
