Aussie Kid Gets Caught Attempting $300,000 Fraud!

The internet can be very useful - to law abiding citizens and fraudsters alike!

News that a 15 year old Australian boy has been arrested and charged with a fraud which amounted to $300,000 has caught the news wires around the world. Using the internet to create a string of businesses and open up bank accounts it seems that he then went about his merry way buying up an array of assets. He knew that by the time the cheques had bounced he would be miles away from the scene of the crime with only his bogus business details available to the victim.

When he was caught - after attempting a separate credit card fraud - it was revealed that while he had 'only' benefitted to the tune of $13,032 he had in fact written out cheques totalling some $300,000 and was literally waiting to bank the money and run!

While it is easy to put this down to an over eager child this is fact modern day fraud on a large scale and something which is become more and more common. The internet is being used by many as a mask to hide behind so that by the time the authorities do get through their maze of fake ids and addresses they are long gone.
