More buyers seeking mortgage advice
Prospective home-buyers are increasingly seeking out advice on which mortgage to opt for, according to a new report.Research carried out by Alliance & Leicester revealed that 76 per cent of mortgage brokers think their role has become more advisory as a result of the state of the economy and property market.Over the course of the last six months, 47 per cent of the mortgage brokers surveyed said they had needed to put more thought into mortgage advice than before."Borrowers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of making the right mortgage choice and that they can take advantage of brokers' wealth of knowledge to ensure this," said Raj Uppal from Alliance & Leicester.According to the poll, some 55 per cent of people looking for a mortgage were focused on affordability, while 24 per cent needed to discuss deposits.A recent report from Mortgage Monitor showed that the number of mortgage products available has fallen by 76 per cent in the last year.
