So when will the housing slump end?
It is very much a case of history repeating itself with a number of experts now stepping forward to call the imminent end of the housing slump. But hold on a second, have we not been here before about 6 months ago? Or was it just 3 months ago?
We are seeing more and more experts crawling out of the wood work at an alarming rate to try and grab the headlines by calling the bottom of the housing market. But are these the same people who called the bottom some time ago or are we seeing a genuine change in the consensus?
At a time when the rescue package has been released to the market, financial markets are riding a little higher and many consumers are now breathing a sigh of relief this may be just what we need to hear. However, the truth is that comments such as calling an end to the property decline are all well and good but we do not know that the rescue package is working, we don't know if the mortgage market will be freed up and we don't know when house prices will bottom out.
