General Electric looking at UK online banking market
US giant General Electric is said to be looking at setting up a UK online banking operation which will be able to take in customer deposits. This is a company which has many different branches and many different operations throughout the world although for some reason it seems to have highlighted the UK online banking arena as something with growth prospects for the future.
There is no doubt that while online banking is becoming more and more popular there have been some detrimental issues to address in the aftermath of the Icelandic banking crisis and problems which many consumers in the UK experienced as a consequence. However, General Electric will be more than a match for the likes of Egg, Cahoot and Smile which have for some time dominated the UK online banking arena.
It is becoming more and more apparent that an array of overseas banking companies are now looking to take advantage of the strained relationship between UK consumers and the UK banking arena. The likes of General Electric have billions upon billions of dollars to throw at any ventures which they see fit as potential growth prospects for the future, so the UK online banking arena had better watch out!
