Is it time to fix your energy price tariff, again?
Over the last few days we have seen a number of prominent gas suppliers in the UK step forward with helpful price reductions for UK consumers. However, many people in the UK will be facing very difficult decisions with many about to come off fixed tariff rates which were set when UK energy costs were significantly lower. So is now the right time to fix your energy price tariff?
Despite the fact that the recent price reductions will prove very useful to both consumers and businesses in the UK many people will see a significant hike in energy costs when their current fixed tariff plans come to an end. Whether now might be the right time to fix your energy price tariff going forward is open to debate although there are long term concerns about the UK energy market with a need for significant investment by energy companies - which could push energy prices higher in the future.
The truth is that the UK energy supply network is in need of a complete overhaul as the move towards greener energy gathers pace and the need for investment in the sector continues to grow. The recent gas supply problems perfectly highlight how the UK market relies heavily on overseas energy suppliers and the problems this can attract when demand is high or there are issues with supply lines.
