Asda takes price promotions to a new level
UK supermarket giant Asda has today revealed that customers will be refunded the difference if they find their groceries cheaper at any rival supermarkets. In a bid to grab back the company's falling share of the supermarket sector Asda has set up a website whereby customers type in their receipt details and can compare the cost of their goods to those sold by the likes of Tesco, Morrison, etc. If they find their goods are any cheaper at another supermarket in the UK they will be refunded the difference +1p in the shape of Asda vouchers.
There has been much change in the setup at Asda over the last few weeks with management shuffling around, new initiatives introduced and today's announcement of a price promotion to end all price promotions. Of the 18 million weekly shoppers visiting Asda it is believed that 10 million have access to broadband and will be able to check the cost of their goods online, compare them to other supermarkets and take part in the price initiative.
On the surface this may seem like a very generous promotion from Asda but when you step back and consider the fact that you have to visit an Asda store again to make use of your voucher, it may not be as foolish as it looks!
