Living within your means

As more and more people in the UK continue to fall into financial hardship it is becoming ever more evident that many people are still living the lives they were living two years ago despite the fact their incomes are under pressure and the cost of living has increased dramatically over the period. It is vital that we all learn to live within our means because this will see us through the hard times and allow us, hopefully, to enjoy the good times again. So what do we need to do?

In times of economic hardship the first elements of our everyday life which need to be reconsidered are the "luxuries". Satellite TV, takeaways and other similar "luxuries" should all be on the agenda for reconsideration and potentially crossed off the list in the short-term. There are obviously many costs-of-living which cannot be reduced or limited but if we are honest there are many areas of everyday life which can be curtailed or even eliminated, at least for the short-term.

So perhaps when you have time it may be worthwhile sitting down and making a list of your regular bills, your regular income and exactly where your money goes on a month by month basis.
