Alex Salmond hails Scottish Green Revolution
Alex Salmond, the leader of the Scottish Parliament, has today issued a very upbeat statement in relation to green technology and green energy in Scotland. He believes that Scotland could be self-sufficient purely and simply through green energy by 2025 even though a number of his detractors believe this is an unachievable target. However, a number of prominent names in the energy industry believe that Scotland has the potential to produce around 200% of the required energy to operate the country, from the green energy sector.
In this case it seems as though Scotland could, over the next 20 or 30 years, actually become a net exporter of energy to the UK and other areas of the world. Great strides have been made over the last few years although a number of earlier targets have been dramatically missed which has led to some scepticism regarding today's claims. However, from a purely natural point of view there is no doubt that wind power, wave power and other natural resources are available in abundance in and around Scotland leading to a potentially enormous green energy market.
This could make Scotland the number one market for renewable energy in Europe and potentially the world?
