How will BP stop the oil leak?
There have been some major developments in the Gulf of Mexico oil crisis with some experts suggesting that an explosive device or even a nuclear device could be used to seal off the well. While US authorities are not contemplating this drastic action at this stage the very fact that the official in charge of managing the US response to the issue has even discussed it in public is alarming.
This oil crisis has the potential to become one of the worst environmental disasters of the modern era. BP has tried and failed to stem the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico and even the company itself is suggesting it will be August at the earliest before any new attempt can be made to put an end to the issue. This is not only a disaster for BP but it is a disaster for the environment around the area with oil pollution now visible across hundreds of miles of coastline. There is new concern that the hurricane season could push the oil pollution into new areas hundreds of miles away from the disaster zone, causing more and more natural and environmental damage.
What seems on the surface to be a fairly simple problem becomes ever more complicated due to the fact this is happening at the bottom of the sea!
