Another day another holiday company goes under

UK-based holiday firm Flight Options has ceased trading today leaving tens of thousands of holidaymakers stranded or potentially out of pocket. The company operates flights to Greece, Egypt, Turkey and the Canary Islands and also took on a company by the name of Kiss Flights back in 2009. This is yet another indication of the difficult trading conditions in the UK holiday arena and increases the number of companies recently going out of business to three. So how will this impact UK holidaymakers?

Holidaymakers affected by the collapse of the company should seek advice as soon as possible with a suggestion of those who have booked up to fly before 6 PM this evening may be unaffected. However, many holidaymakers will be concerned about effectively flying "with" a company which has ceased trading as many UK holidaymakers have been complaining that hotels and other holiday facilities have been demanding money up front before allowing people to book in - despite the fact that the full cost of holidays has already been covered.

This latest collapse in the UK holiday market is certain to lead to further fiscal tightening by the banking industry and potentially more trouble for smaller holiday operators.
